Took my son to visit an ailing school mate of his at RI Hospital and had to cross over the Point Street Bridge. There is an outflow of warmer water from the power plant that's near by. Couldn't believe what I saw. There was three inches of heavy snow on the bridge under blizzard conditions. As we were driving by, seen this guy hand line a 2 pound striper up 15 feet. Dropped off my son and returned to investigate.

With a 1/4 weighted blue back rubber shad he took fish after fish after fish. He must have easily caught 25 fish while I was standing there. He's been there since 4:00 pm and I happen to run into him at 8:30pm. All toll he must have caught over 200 fish, largest to four pounds. Others have been catching fish to 15 pounds on other days. Wish I had my camera. Just seemed kinda strange in the blow'in driven snow.

There is a pub near the end of the bridge where he resorted for a cold one. He said he would be back though. About 10 minutes later he returns with this very successful looking well dress guy. Come to find out, he's bets this guy $20.00 that he can catch a striper on a night like this. First cast..... bang .... up comes another cookie size striper of two pounds. I just thought...... What a great way to make a liven?

I knew someone was going to imply that I had a few pints?
That's why I wish I had a camera for all those non-believers out there in striper land. Will do a sketch though to verify this happening.

Called Art Burton while we were standing there watching this event. Art will back up my story.

I know this sounds to good to be true. If it weren't for the fact that Tony Stezsko will be at Crossroads Angler's tonite, I'd be wetting my line.

Crossroad Angler's meetings usually start at 6:30 pm. They have a hour of tying before a short general meeting and raffles. So Tony should present around 7:45 pm. There will be a slide show and question and answer period to follow. To my knowledge, Tony does an excellent job with his presentation. Don't miss this chance to see him because his presentations dates are limited. Once the lights are out, Tony will feel right at home. He's spent half his life on the outer cape under those conditions.

Does any one know the directions off hand or can anyone do a search on Crossroads to find them?

The bass were still there in Providence last night, but the bite was not as strong. With Tony's cancellation at Crossroads Angler's, we were able to fish. My son outfished myself 12-4. Using spinning gear and a four inch 1/4 oz weighted shad did the trick. It wasn't fly fishing, but it felt good feeling the tug.

Hi Capt. Ray, what do you call this Cast A Lure Charters ? Why don't you try accross the river at the aluminum dock, just be careful, it will get you down to flycasting near the water level? Still pumping water from the basement all night.
