I checked the link on the left sidebar and the Tying Clave Roster information and directions are no longer available. So here they are. Also since I no longer have access to the roster information if you need my cell number email me and I'll send it to you.

Route 3 North to exit 32.
From the Route 3 Drumhill Rotary exit rotary onto Westford Rd. Westford.
Take the first right onto Graniteville Rd. ( It's highlighted on the attached map)
Chelmsford High School (baseball fields) will be on your right.
Proceed on Graniteville and stay left at the fork on the road just past Sully's Ice Cream. No relation.

Continue on Graniteville (Parker Middle School is on your right) approximately 1.5 miles.
You will then come to a four-way (stop) intersection with School Street.
Proceed straight through this intersection. This is where Graniteville becomes Lowell Rd.
From this intersection The Stony Brook Fish and Game Club is about 0.2 miles on your right. Just after you
cross the townline from Chelmsford to Westford. You may park in the upper parking lot and come in the front door.
I will request all visitors to sign in downstairs in the members lounge.

The map is here:

While the last remnants of the Marlboro show are swept up, it's time to talk about the next event - Stony Brook! Actually I can't wait. I was thinking I would be able to tie at the booth but that was a stretch. It will be great to pow-pow with great people and twist up a few (whole new meaning!).

Email me w/ a phone # so we can talk thru the details. Do we have a Stony Brook committee yet? Any volunteers?

BTW - I have four nice tying tables. If the place is as well-stocked with tables as last time I'll leave them home. Let me know,

Mr. Sully seems to have things lined up pretty well.
There is a bunch of people bringing things per the discussion a couple of weeks ago. In those threads we sort of opted to maintain the friendly atmosphere of last year and keep it a little loose for the benefit of so many new tyers(correct me if my interpretation of that discussion is wrong).
I will be covering the coffee and corny jokes dept. I will be going out early to help open things up too. Thanks again Sully for hosting this awesome event. Let us know of any last minute details we might help you with.

I am really looking forward to this, especially since I was pretty tied up at the show doing the CCA booth, and then my ride had to leave and I barely got a chance to stop by the forum booth or any other booths. I will bring lots of materials and an extra vise. Let me know if there is anything else you need (like...er...umm....BEER????).

I will have swap flies and membership dues too!

p.s. what time should we show up approximately?

No committee required as it's a casual affair.

Also please do NOT bring any alcohol. The club has a liquor license that could be revoked for that reason. There is a bar downstairs which opens around noon.

There are plenty of tables and chairs there so no need to bring any. If you need an electrical connection for tying lamps, epoxy drier etc... a few extra extension cords will help.

Lets have some fun.

Just so you know by committee I meant people who help you in the planning process... what is needed, what people should bring, etc. I think there are lots of people (including myself) who would gladly contribute.

See you this weekend!

Sully!!

If you would like, I would be more than willing to give a mini-seminar on my brush-back casting technique!

In my post-fever state I am not finding a starting time for Saturday. Please advise as I am trying to juggle this & my favorite niece's birthday.

Juro,
If I wasn't such of a rebel(re.PITA)I would agree that planning is a good thing. I guess that comes from writing test plans for so long. Some of my best work is unstructured and done on the fly. No pun intended. http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif" border="0" align="middle"> If you or anyone else has any ideas or suggestions I am open to them. Fire away!

I figure that I'll open the place about 8:30 A.M. and set up. We should be good to go by 9:00. Captain Cast'a'Fly. Ray expects to be there around 11:00 and set up his slide show presentation for lunch time. We can call in an order for pizza and subs around then. I'll bring a menu from the local sub shop. The bar should be open around then also.

I love just winging it because sometimes it can be the most fun and successful of all. Hell we could all get smashed and wind up carving out a casting pool in the trout pond with chainsaws. <img src="http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Happy.gif" border="0" align="middle"> So bring your rods! <img src="http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif" border="0" align="middle">

Roop,
You need a little work on that brushback cast. I used to clear out a Hell of alot more real estate on my backcast tossing a 3oz. Gibbs popper. The trick is grumble often and keep it high. <img src="http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif

Lastly this is an open event, everyone who wants to attend is welcome. Bring a friend! And if you know or are someone affiliated with CCA or TU they are welcome to do sign ups here. My club promotes conservation minded organizations.

Great news... Pete MacNeil will be able to provide a projector for my PC so we will also have a retrospective of the 2000 season to go thru. I promise to do a better job than I did at the show

Also, we will be drawing the raffle ticket winner for Bob Pink's awesome rack of beautiful flies at the tying clave. (Winners do not need to be present to win, tickets are available until the time of the drawing at the end of the clave)

Question: Are we still supposed to bring appetizer stuff?

Juro,

Excellent! I hope you have the Boneclave and Rhody images I emailed you also.

You can bring appetizers if you like. I figured that a couple of dozen doughnuts or bagels would suffice in the morning. At lunch we could have pizza & subs delivered. I'm just trying to keep the cleanup to minimum. I have to fly out of there to go to a hockey game afterwards. No surprise there.

ssully et al,
I was about to post that family committments were going to keep me MIA for Stony Brook II but the info about the 09:00 opening bell may have cracked a window of opportunity. Won't be there to do any tying but it would be great to say hi!
If I can't make it, you can feel free to castigate me in my absence.

Juro,
If you could be so good as to collect any swap contributions (among your myriad other duties) and I'll find a way to hook up with you (perhaps a coffee in Cambridge?)

No Problem Bob - the least I could do for your meistering contributions. Too bad you won't be there to witness the joy in someone's eyes if / when they get their number called in the forty fly raffle drawing that will happen there!

Coffee in Cambridge sounds real good... I'm in Waltham days so maybe Newton if that's not too far out for you? Let's say... some coffee shop from a former home of mine?

I've got some swap flies from the show to give you as well.

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make the Stony Brook Clave.

My 8 month old son woke up with a 103.5 degree fever @ 3AM this morning. I wouldn't feel right leaving my wife alone if Sean's condition might worsen and require a doctor visit. Hopefully I can attend the next function to put names and faces together.

I can only hope that my Lil' Bro' satisfactorily represents the family today at the Clave. He should also be with the future Mrs. Doogue, who is a better tyer than he is. Some guys have all the luck.
