Steelheader looking for Stripers

1658 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Adrian
I'm heading over to Long Island (from Seattle) the first week of May for some business and will have a free day or two. A resident steelheader at heart, I'd love the chance at some stripers and am looking for some direction as to where and when in the long island area. I'll be staying in Little Neck. Can anyone help out? Let me know on the board or via e-mail.

Thanks!!!

Hi Bunny

I work in NYC but don't have personal experience of the local fishery. New York harbour has been very consistent early season over the past few years and there are a couple of guides specializing in SWFF in the area. Joe Shastay is one name I've heard 'frequently. Things should be buzzing by May. I would give the folks at Urban Angler (www.urban-angler.com) in NYC a call, they have a lot of local knowledge including shore access points and are always very helpful. Good luck!
