Today on Conneaut creek, a tributary to Lake Erie in Ohio, mayflyman caught his first salmon. :)
A Coho that measured 33 inches tip-to-tail. It was just two feet away from me when it hit the "EGG SUCKING LEACH" fly pattern, what a rush!
I just got bit by the salmon-bug...
It was my first outing with my new Orvis 9-wt rod, risking the use of a bad pun; I'm hooked.

Again, welcome to the Board. And your command of the English Language is just fine. Only thing that could confuse you is here in the US "we" speak "American," which is a dialect of English. But, that's what makes the language the choice of world commerce. It's one big sponge; see a word, like the word and it can be in common usage in North America in a couple of weeks.

Think I'm kidding? Stick around teenagers for a couple of weeks and you'll find out just how out of date you are at age 59. Concerned about correct spelling; no need to fret, use the spell checker before you post. (I'm appalled at what it catches on me)

Thanks, I'll try.
Mayflyman: my congratulations! I will never forget my first salmon, but it was more little than yours, just 27 inches. It was in 1996. Last summer I caught my biggest salmon for this time and first salmon on double-handed fly-rod: 24.9 lbs and 39 inches.
Juro It's too long story. I can tell You, just ask me what are You want to know.
Would you like to flyfish here? I will show some beautiful rivers and I think it's a good idea.
Good luck and best fishes for everyone!

ALEX! I would love to fish there. What is the best month? Can I exchange a trip as your host here in the US when you come over?

I will definitely come over to fish for salmon with you!

The best time for salmon fishing as usually is from the end of may untill end of june for spring salmon and from end of september untill middle of october for autumn salmon. But there are more chances in spring, becouse outumn salmon is too capricious.
