Being new to fly fishing all I have at the moment are wading boots, wader and a borrowed fly rod to practice. What are must haves for my first trip out? I figured eye protection, tackle box and net. Do I need pliers to remove hooks? TIA.

Find the “Patience and Luck” store and purchase copious amounts of both items. Maybe add in a couple of cartons of humility and humor. Also some bug repellent might be helpful as well as band aids. Nippers and forceps, of course. Water, for sure. Maybe some Scotch. Small amounts if you’re driving. Surface and subsurface flies if you’re rigged enuf. Equal amounts of seriousness and fun should be considered. Watch stuff besides the water. Watch bugs. Enjoy each new habitat. Try very hard to have a swell time.

Such a wonderful reply Chuck! Reading the first sentence somehow eased the anxiety of getting into something new, thank you for that.
