I have been appropriately kicked in the butt by doublespey to get with the program and put together my pacific northwest conclave plans and need to gather feedback... the membership has grown and I would love to put as many faces to names as possible while visiting. Likewise when you visit the east coast or any part of the forum community expect to be welcomed on home waters.

I'd like to put emphasis on saltwater coho flyfishing but with such a big run of steelhead...

Anyone going to be around Labor day week, week prior, or week after; even if it means just lifting a cold heff?

Juro, the salt sounds mighty enticing. I'll be around the weekend of the 25th for sure, though maybe around Sekiu! I'm also thinking about getting out there for Labor Day weekend too. As you say, there are a lot of options out here right now, and it ought to just get better in the next few weeks...

Very tempting... we are having an big annual event here on the 19-21, kinda tight - are you there Friday PM thru Sun?

Should be some big hooks around then, what's the shoreline restriction this year? I could always C&R while fishing for seabass }>

On further thought I am targeting Labor day to gain the bonus day. If you are headed back up to the straits I would love to hook up out there. Depending on headcount we could either rent a kicker or take turns, I have always wanted to do that shoreline high tide fishery at Middle Point and the rocks along the Cave end of Clallam Bay, not to mention the creek mouth to the right of the Coho Resort on the flood. I'd be happy to do the shore thing and take turns, etc.

WOW, that will be tight travel has been nutty Rochester, DC, and Chicago this week. But, just to get you going I went out odark Sunday am to a SW WA river got a pull. on the drive home I got out and looked over a bridge. 5 or 6 very large steelead milling in a pool. I quickly put the waders back on rigged up the two hander and proceeded to ssssswwwiiiinnnng and Lady Caroline to no avail. they are in!

I'd like to pay my respects to both the salt opportunities and the summer steelhead, and this sounds like a great year to do just that. It would be great to put as many new faces to names as possible as well as hit the water with the hardcore regulars that I get so little time in a year to do.

I'll tell you, someone's got to come up with an idea so we can turn this venture into a salary machine so we can all spend our time visiting the great angling destinations of the world and legitimately get paid for doing it. A few days a year just simply isn't enough!

But for now it's what I got so I really look forward to doing some marathon fishing with the PNW gang.

Good morning,
A Coho venture sounds interesting! One idea might be the Port Townsend area. There are many hotels and excellent camp grounds in the area plus great places to eat. Indiaan Island has its canal where many silvers and searuns are caught from shore by fly. There is a lot of shore fishing around the Hood Canal bridge and Hood Canal looks like a very hot silver spot this year. Nice thing about it is that its a more centeral spot to get to than further out on the strait and if the weather gets nasty you have far more places to choose from to keep out of the wind. Also the sea run fishing is just increadible. Don't know what the local flyguys would think of a lot of us showing up but they are all very nice folks and might even help with advise. There is a great fly fishing club over there and i can ask some of the members for advise on Kayak rentals, camp grounds and local flyshops. Just a an idea about a really great area to stay and fish for a couple of days. If this get together happens would love to see a lot of the guys from your saltwater site come out and fish with us.

Dammit, Juro, looks like we'll miss eachother or cross paths in travel. I'm headed to the Outer Banks (N.C.) on September 1st, and will return home around the 10th. Was hoping to at least say hello in person. The river fishing could be tough due to lack of water and high temps (the Sky is around 900 right now, about half of normal), but that saltwater stuff should be killer. Been fishing out of Westport on a buddy's boat and having a ball with the silvers--already some big hooknose showing up. Anyway, I will be chasing reds inside or if weather allows, heading out to the wrecks off the N.C. coast. Just getting ready for the Albies in November. Hope all is well. Let's talk and get stuff going.

You've got the best of it up there, second to Alaska and I'm not even sure about that with all the great angling on the BC coast. I think Kush is out at Langara now and I miss fishing the west coast of Vancouver Island badly - the only thing keeping me from making the run north would be time limitations, God knows it wouldn't be because of the fishing! Perhaps we could tempt you south?

Yes, I've heard about a trip you and Nate will be on... talk about envious! Man one of these days.

My schedule is still up in the air so hopefully I will get a chance to hook up in person when I get that all figured out.

Back on Grays Harbor when I had a boat to tow down there we did well finding the big hooks on the north side of the bay on the flood. We were getting some nice fish on the near side rips but noticed the charter boats were always working over there and went over to investigate. Just about everyone on board was hooked up and the mates were running around the deck. We had a couple lines hanging behind the propwash, watching the charter boat action when >WHAM!< We spent the next few fall seasons learning all about that fishery including the outrageous boat basin fishery!

Let's talk about big albies down in NC in November, I am planning on going down there as well. Maybe we can hook up then!

If anyone doesnt mind me tagging along i.e. wants to a share a boat with me, I would LOVE to spend a couple days chasing after big saltwater coho with the fly. From the pictures I have seen, the stories I have heard, it sounds like an absolute AMAZING experience. Hell the Straight is already stuffed with coho and its only mid-August.

Just keep in mind, I am under 21 but I would love to join you for a drink (a Shirley Temple in my case).

If you are interested I will be in Brinon those weekends you mentioned. I'll be working on my sloop but always find time to take the canoe out at this time of year. Usually go out at first light for a couple of hours on Sunday and sometimes on Saturday evening. If you want to go it would be no problem putting you up for a couple of days. By the way the reports are very good on the Hood Cannal with lots of surface feeding and plenty of bait to keep bigger than average size Silvers happy.
