Arrived after 5, fished clousers for a half hour and picked up 6 all under 20". The sluggo slinging gang was outfishing the fly guys around me better than 5 to 1. Place was packed for a crappie Tues. Guess it's time to fish were the crowd won't go.

Anybody wanna try Arbogast Hula skirts as tails on a 34011?
Stubborn flyguy reply...

IMHO - it ain't the sluggo, it's the lead head. With such currents, the lead head bites right down to the sand and reaches perhaps 50%-100% greater distances of the average fly guy.

I have outfished the sluggo guys on occasion but only in spots and structures where fly techniques can overcome the lack of lead.

Tides and locations play a huge role, but the #1 is presentation technique in these conditions. Clearly the leadhead provides an advantage in any river mouth, but - I get little satisfaction out of catching a striper on spin gear and that's why I fish, satisfaction. To each his or her own.

"Bait" taken....and spit out.

Slightly disgruntled, mostly spin guy.
