Jasper Fishing options
Try Lac Maligne. There are several good guides that work that lake, none that I know personally so I can't recommend. Look up "On-Line Sport & Tackle" located in Jasper 780-852-3630, they offer guided trips. Mid October in Jasper is risky weatherwise so don't build up expectations. It could be snowing and minus 10C or be bright and sunny and +15?
However, if you happen to be in/around Calgary. let me know!.

Morning French Creek
Thank you very much for the info....
I will give them a call today. My flight lands in Edmonton (on a Saturday) and then a 4 hour drive to Jasper. I have all day Sunday off. How far is Jasper to Calgary? I read about the Bow River, but according to my findings, am I not like 6 hours away? One more quick question: My 8wt rod will not be appropriate, right? I gotta find a place to fish, I cannot think going out West and not cast a line!! Regards, Ann

Hi Ann,
Leave your 8Wt at home, bring a 5Wt, at most a 6Wt, with a dry line for nymphs and a sink tip line for streamers, 3X - tippet - 10foot leaders for nymphs and 2X - tippet 7foot leaders for streamers. One option to get to Calgary is to get on a commuter flight via Westjet airlines when you get to Edmonton and fly back to Edmonton later in the day on Sunday, then drive to Jasper (about 3 Hrs). Alternatly fly to Calgary on Saturday, then up to Edmonton on Sunday and on to Jasper drive. ither way, this is a hectic pace so my suggestion is to get out in Jasper on Sunday and enjoy the magnificent scenery that the Rockies will give you. Better to plan another trip next year to Calgary! I'll make sure you get to fish the Bow river.
