Swap fly: Blood scud
Here's my entry for the trout fly swap. It's a little pattern that I've had very good luck with on heavily fished waters, probably because it's a bit different.
Blood Scud Hook: Scud hook, size 14 Weight: Copper bead head, size matched to hook Thread: Fine monofilament Tail: Red filoplume Body: Red larva lace Gills: Peacock herl Different threads will give different results. The monofilament doesn’t show through the translucent larva lace, but black thread would give a dark inner shading to the body. It’s an easy pattern. The most important part is wrapping the larva lace neatly and tightly. Thanks to John for the imaging!
