It is often said that time spent fishing is not deducted from
one's allotted time. This statement can also be applied to humor, and the effect it has on us.
If nothing else, humor, in its many forms, allows us to laugh at ourselves and generally
makes life more pleasurable.
Enter Efrain Pablo Castro Briz, aka Tornillo ("screw" in
Spanish). Tornillo is a professional graphic artist with a penchant for comics that started over fifteen years ago.
His comic strips have been published in a number of newspapers in Argentina, and he even has the dubious distinction of holding a world record for the longest comic in one strip of paper (124
meters long!)

Having worked at the Hotel Correntoso at the mouth of the famous Patagonian river of the same name, Tornillo says he "had no choice but to become passionate about fly fishing".
In 1990 he began to write articles for various local newspapers about fishing with the long rod. |
This was followed in 1991, by his first book: "Con Mosca es Otra
Cosa" (With Flies It's Something Else) which pokes fun at fly fishers and their idiosyncrasies.
In 1995, he started a fly fishing school and later, under the
tutelage of Mel Krieger, became a FFF certified fly casting instructor.
Tornillo is a founding member of the Asociacion de Pesca con Mosca del Neuquen or APMN, and edits their
quarterly magazine (please, see article about the APMN in the Patagonia Report section of the Forum).
In 1998 he published his second book "Con Mosca es Otra Cosa II". We are lucky to count him as one of us at the Fly Fishing Forum and look
forward to seeing some of his articles and more of his wit. Welcome
Tornillo!
