Cape Lookout Charters

Ran 2 early morning trips this weekend in the marsh. Started Sat w/ a topwater bite on the super spook. Had about 6 bites on top w/ 2 of the fish landed, all drum in the 23 to 26" range. Checked another spot, hooked 2, landed both. Slipped the anchor overboard, continued casting then we watched a school of 75 reds swim rt past the boat. Wild ass sight to see, wacked another 2 fish, we lost the school for the moment. They didn't go far, we were so hooked up again, one on the fly. This action contined for an hour or so. The fish on the fly went 9 pounds and was close to being the largest of the day.

Fished the fly pretty hard on sunday morning. Hooked an landed a number of fish on spinning tackle. Finally saw a school of fish swimming on the surface, in the middle of the sound. First cast we hooked into a 12 pound drum. First drum on the fly for the angler. Smiles and laughs as I casted a grub into the school, both reels screaming. Quality fishing, nice big fish. The shark fishing on the fly contines to be producing fish over 80 pounds. Blacktips, spinners a few lemon and brown sharks.

Capt. Dave -

When are the big albies best to go after? I hear the fishing is good Oct-Nov. If we are planning to try for them, when is best?

Out of curiosity, I know your waters have lots of spanish macs; how about atlantic bonito?

thanks,
Juro
