Spreaders

I am amazed at Striblue's patterns and noticed he mentioned using a spreader on some of his FeatherBrain patterns. I know the concept behind a spreader but can anyone tell me what a spreader consists of and can anyone post a picture of one? Thank you.

Glad to see we have another PM on the board, so the other members will now have to be careful about PM comments (me).

Anyway PM JASPER where are you in Nothern NJ ? I grew up in Teaneck, but have been gone since 1979 to Great lakes country.

Jasper- To answer your question, yes. The EZ body is what's commonly being used as the spreader.

Thanks guys. I'm from Parsippany, NJ. I originally grew up in West Paterson on the banks of the Passaic River. Now I fish the rivers, lakes and reservoirs of Northern and Central NJ as well as the coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Island Beach State Park. I have 2 fishing kayaks and normally fish off of them when the weather gets warmer. I hope to see some of you guys out there in the months ahead.

PM JASPER

IBSP is one of my favorite places, was there two years and it has not changed. My parents are retired in Whiting, NJ near Toms River, my other brother lives in Freehold Township. He just bought a 30 foot ocean fishing boat which he has in Brick township on the Bay. Got to get back there soon for some NJ saltwater fishing.

Well maybe I'll see you out there sometime in the future. I normally fish Raritan Bay, because it is closer, but I do have a few buddies set for a spring flyfishing/kayaking outing. I can't wait to get out there and start fishing for stripers, bluefish and weakfish.

PM Jasper..here is a Medium spreader on a striped bass I tied tonight...this is not the large one. This is the rear spreader on a two spreader fly.
