The Fly and I

The afternoon beckond
And I heeded the call
With wind from the south
To bend the trees

My staff in hand
Bundled against
What Nature herself could deal
The Robins and Juncos
Turning leaves for dinner

I crested the hill
Stayed by the back roads
not for want of disturbance
this commune with Her

And so, arm and arm we walked
And my thoughts
Were stirred by the breeze
Washed by the rain

While making the circle
I chose to return
By way of the flood
Along the creek swollen by Winter

And remembering Spring
Now a short time away
When I and the Fly
Would stock these and other shores
At a lower tide

Coaxing the prize
From beneath bank and rock
untill evenings pale light

As I again reached my door
Looking back over my shoulder
To glance at sea birds
as they dipped there wings

Her wisper was in the hedgerow
And everywhere
My ears heard the voice
Real and True

"Follow your hearts desire
You and the Fly
To the places
Of unspeakable beauty
The trophy awaits
Your Noble presence"...

From Grey Clouds, Bright Sun

Three cheers for the new year!... Hip, Hip, and all that rot...

Thanks,

Funny?

All,
Thank's to you for the great feed back! As it stands, I have a submission for the Yale Anglers Journal ready to go, but have had trouble raising the web site to get the proper info, address and such. I might ask, Striblue, do you have an old issue lying about that might have this info? If so, could you forward it to me here, I would be much in your debt for this, as it has been frustrating for some time, and I am not as yet a subscriber to the Journal.
I remain, a student of Truth, Trout, and Tromping about...
