HELP! Cheapest fare Boston-Edinburg

I have been trying for days to nail down the best flight option for Scotland leaving 11-26 night time or 11-27 morning, returning 12-1. I have zero flexibility in these dates or must forfeit the trip.

If anyone is particularly good at working the online reservations game and I use your suggestion I am offering a new custom engraved and personalized (with your name) swingleaf Wheatley flybox as a token of my appreciation. I will also have a fly hand-delivered from the River Tweed in that box.

I can leave from Logan or Hanscom, possibly Manchester NH on 11-26 night, extend that to Providence, Worcester, etc on 11-27.

Thanks in advance.

Juro-
Since I have never looked around for fares to that destination...what is cheap??

Will spend sometime this evening looking around for 'ya but I dont want to think I've found a total bargain when it is far from it!

Check out www.travelocity.com

Tricky Itinery - Edinburgh looks ludicrously expensive but Newcastle may be an option. Its not too far (~ 2hrs drive) to the R. Tweed from there - depending on where you'll be fishing.

Can't see anything direct but Air France has something around $550 for those dates - Boston to Newcastle - changing planes in Paris - total travel time 9+hrs.

Glasgow is another possibility.

p.s. Good luck - Pack warm gear. Heavy tubes and sinking lines rule.

I caught my last Atlantic Salmon at Yair, last week of November about 8 years ago.

Say hi to Melrose and Peebles for me - Used to be a great Fish 'n Chip shop at Innerliethen

FARES

Juro,
Don't book till you check out www.bestfares.com! Just off the cuff, I found a Boston to Dublin for $248.- R.T. This site might be worth a little more surgery, Oh and ah, keep your flaps down, bro
I remain at 35,000, free to move about the cabin...

Thank you to all who provided great advice. I am unable to find a fare I can afford and since the 7-day advance window just passed even those on the edge have now gone astronomic as of this morning.

I truly appreciate all the concern, but the Tweed, a lifelong dream trip, will not be for me this time. >sigh<

Now if you'll excuse me I have the oven on and my head is ready to insert into it.

Juro,
Just remember the prices go up...then a day or two before they'll actually fall dramatically if they've got seats left. If you have the ability to leave last minute, I'd keep an eye out.

Nick

Juro -

Have a look at the Aer Lingus site:

http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/index.jsp

There appear to be some $99 trips to Dublin and $10 (10-pound?) jumps from Dublin to Edinburgh. My older son is at the University in Edinburgh this year and unfortunately it looks like most of these bargains expire before the spring trip I'm planning. Don't know anything about availability, but it's another data point for you.

Good thinking broadbill - I think the GBP10 jumps are with Ryan Air - I've heard they do crazy fares like GBP1 roundtrip to Amsterdam to fill seats
