Great job!... What are the materials?.... are the materials basically the same as in most tying references? I intended to tye a number of those and the fly can also be considered one of Blanton's original flies along with his Whistler.

Material list

Thanks Striblue... I just started tying a couple of months ago, mostly clousers. Time to try new patterns and put my twist to them.

Materials List

3/0 or 5/0 (I used 1/0)

THREAD: White, Danville Fly Master Plus or equivalent.
Three amp lead wire or non-lead equivalent.

White bucktail.

Fifteen to 20 strands each of both silver and pearl Flashabou. (I used ice blue Flashabou for the Flash Tail with the silverFlashabou)

Six, long, white saddle hackles.

Medium bunch of white bucktail, half as long as the tail.

Pearl gray bucktail.

Fifteen to 20 strands of mauve or rose bucktail, topped with six to eight strands of wine Crystal flash length of gray bucktail. That is topped with one long grizzly saddle hackle on each side 3/4 the length of the wing.

fifteen to 20 strands each of both silver Flashabou and multi-colored Crystal flash.

A loop of medium gray chenille.

Small, red chenille.

Small, white chenille.

Yellow and black, solid plastic eyes, post removed, 9 mm. (I used 7MM doll eye on the 1/0 hook)
