"For whom the bell tolls."

From an 'ex-pat' Canadian, I want to thank all of you who've served this Great Country.

You efforts, in time of Peace and War, have given me:

The right of freedom of speach;
The right of freedom of Assembly;
The right of freedom of ...
The right of freedom of ...
The right of freedom of ....
The right of freedom of ....
The right of freedom of ....

How much of the world would love to have half of the above?

May God Bless you all.

I used to take a Vietnam Vet co-worker out to lunch on Veterans Day. He was a grumpy cormudgeon and when I asked others to come along most said no way. Yet when the few of us got to the restaurant with him we pulled him out of the shackles of his daily life grievances since returning from combat it shined up the sense of honor that he felt deeply having serving our great country at war. We were at awe at the great man he really was.

I may not always agree with the rationale of war, but I never disrespect those who have fought in them. A salute to all men who have stood for freedom!

"What is a Vet"

Check out this page, which I found this weekend, the "What is a Vet" narrative was in a local Chicago news paper's editorial page.

It is about half way down the page.

You are very right. We in the U.S. have taken for granted the freedoms we enjoy. We must all remember that freedom has a price and those who have gone to war for the U.S., whether they came home or died defending our freedoms, should be honored for what they have done. I for one am very glad that when it was necessary to go to war, that those in the military or those who were drafted stood up and went as the honorable men and women they are.

I offer my humble thanks to one and all who have served the U.S. populace through being in a branch of the U.S. military. YOu have done your country proud!
