Talking The First Joisey Flatwing Fling and Mini-Clave

Friends,

Looks like the First Joisey Flatwing Fling and Mini-Clave is a go! There has been a lot of interest expressed, so let's set a date, time and meeting place for a get-together to chase stripers and blues at Sandy Hook!

Tide Info:

For 11/2-3
Sat.
High: 5:12 AM 5:29 PM
Low: 11:31 AM 11:54 PM
Sun.
High: 6:02 AM 6:22 PM
Low: 12:25 PM

For 11/9-10
Sat.
High: 11:10 AM 11:48 PM
Low: 4:47 AM 5:37 PM
Sun.
High: 12:08 PM
Low: 5:42 AM 6:37 PM

For 11/23-24 (Flytying Symposium weekend)
Sat.
High: 9:17 AM 10:06 PM
Low: 3:20 AM 4:13 PM
Sun.
High: 10:01 AM 10:59 PM
Low: 3:59 AM 4:55 PM

Earlier is better as the fish may have largely moved south by the end of the month, or so goes the prevailing local wisdom.

E-mail or post with your interest and preferred dates and we'll get this set up.

Best regards,

-Doc

Thumbs up Good

When a date settled by the masses just let me know and I will meet all of you there. Could a couple of buddy's ( that know the area ) join in as well??

Adrian, get your Yak to the Hudson and fish the rip at Tellers Point. BLUES & BASS.

It will be the weekend of the big Somerset show for me, two birds with one stone. I have a big release at work that week but if all goes well I should get the green light.

Not sure if I will be fishing a floating line with a daisy chain of flatwings, but I plan on being there just the same.

First Joisey Flatwing Fling and Mini-clave

Well, the votes are in and it looks like it's going to happen as follows:

Saturday 11/9

Meet in the first parking lot after entering the Hook at 2:00 PM and fish both sides of the low.

Sunday 11/10

Meet at same spot at 5:00 AM and fish the incoming 'till whenever!

Juro, sorry you can't make it but let's get together the weekend of the Fly Tying Symposium...I have a permit and while no expert, can get yo to the major locations. It would be my pleasure.

Mike, no problem. Anybody with a sense of humor (and a fly rod) is welcome!

Adrian, still tying those flatwings? There are some good spots. You might also consider bringing the 'yak, though that is totally your call. I can think of an interesting spot I plan on investingating in the spring when I get mine. Just a thought.

Anyway, map and additional details to follow.

Best regards and looking forward to seeing you there!

-Doc

Hmm . . . Mapquest says the travel time from my house to Sandy Hook is 4 hours and 2 minutes. That's even closer than Chatham!

Doc - Got any lodging info for that area? I may try to join you guys.

Hey Doc,

The 9th is opening day of deer season in my neck of the woods. We can fish for stripers 12 months of the year, but we only have a couple weeks to deer hunt. Sorry, I won't make it. Wouldn't mind getting back to my boyhood waters sometime next year tho for Flatwing Fling II. :-)
