Yes and no....

Mike,
I fished the afternoon high at weekapaug. Nothing doing. There were still some pretty good rollers and the water was still relatively cloudy. It was not inconceivable that some fish would show but they never did. There was a few fish (looked like bass) under a medium sized ball of bunker about 200 feet off the east jetty wall but they only stayed for a few minutes.

Hey Mike,
slinger and I went to the west wall this am not mush doing saw some small bass and blues had what I thought to be a small pod of albies come up for a second just inside th pot line. After getting blown around a bit with no success we headed to quanie. lots of bait but no fish showing a few cast later off to weakapog some decent size bass at the inside corner of the bridge looked like they were eating small scup. Then out to the point fish showed 1 more time about 200 yards out. left at 12:30 without a fish. dont know if we'll get out again but here is hopeing.
Sean sorry to hear you didnt have any better luck but releaved that they didnt come in right after we left like they have been.
made a bad habbit of picking the wrong day the wrong fly and the wrong spot this year.
well good luck guys

Mikez - good luck out there today. Hope things have calmed down out there for ya.

Sean - thanks for the heads-up and saving me some driving time. Hit the north side of PI, and didn't do anything there either. Water was still being stirred up quite a bit - no signs of fish anywhere.

Should be able to head down to Rhody for the upcoming weekend.

TL,

Dave

Thumbs down

hit many s. county albie spots during the course of the day Saturday, and some yesterday and this a.m. Total tally: 1 blue and 1 shad. Saw lots of bait everywhere, but no hardtails on any of it.
Will try again this afternoon, but it looks like this blow didn't do us any favors.

I fished from Black Point off Niantic to Weekapaug point in the boat yesterday and didn't do much at all. There were scattered small schools of small fish busting in the first wave off most of the beaches from Watch Hill to Weekapaug Point but I only managed a couple of rat blues. The fish were in pretty close to the beach and due to surfcasters and the immense waves breaking I did not venture in too close. Saw Albies at Sandy Point right on the beach for about 5-10 minutes early in the morning but did not hook up. The seas were still a little rough but once you got outside the shore break it was not too bad, tolerable. I got 1 36" bass on a jig at Race Rock Light in the afternoon and that was pretty much it for me yesterday. The damn weather is just putting a serious dent in the fishing conditions. If it would lay down for just a few days i think you would see some real good fishing but the wind needs to take a vacation for sure. The forecast does not bode well for the next week or so. I will just keep my fingers crossed and hope that the weather man is wrong once or twice and try to sneak out here and there.

Tightlines,
Mike M.

Mike,

here's hoping for a calmer stretch by the weekend...sent you an email...hoping to head down Sunday...to try that spot you showed me, and see about nailing some albies as well!
