From a bulletin posted by American Rivers:

Snake River salmon need your help! In 2003, the Bush administration will be asked to evaluate how well the federal government is carrying out the federal Salmon Plan for the Snake and Columbia Rivers. The Salmon Plan, which relies on a number of measures short of removing the lower Snake River dams to restore salmon, is not scientifically sound and has fallen far behind schedule. The federal government needs to acknowledge that the Salmon Plan is failing, and begin planning to remove the lower Snake River dams.

Since the Bush administration won't support dam removal planning, Congress needs to demand it. Please contact your Senators and urge them to support studies on how to remove the lower Snake River dams while simultaneously protecting local communities and economies.
