Well,

I stole away from an auction this afternoon (my wife was entirely entertained by the fodder that was up for grabs at this high end auction) and walked over to my most frequently visited Fall Run beach.

In truth I went over there to fetch her jacket (I was conveniently parked in the beach lot). What I also fetched was a glimpse of some bass crashing peanuts.

After giving her the jacket and a kiss on the cheek I was on the water and into fish.

Many fish present - I caught a handful. Highlight was a legal leaper of a bass that made my day.

This was a little medicine for missing the Rhody Clave.

Way to go!

Congrats! Sounds like you had a good time. What patterns were you using?

Wait a minute...

You made your wife happy AND caught a legal fish?

That's one heck of a day...even w/o the 'Clave!

Congrats!

Yes,

It was a good day...

The fish were really fussy for most of the day. I was actually sight casting to many of the fish. I had many, many, many follows later in the day with no takes.

Earlier in the day I was getting as many strikes as any guy on the beach. I was hooking up regularly with my go to fall fly - the Mushmouth (a Dave Skok creation). After catching a lot of fish I lost the white belly on that fly and the refusals began. I think that the bite just died a bit though. Similar whitish flies were being refused as the tide creeped higher.

Time to tie up more Mushies...

Can you share the recipe for a Mushmouth? I could not find it in my references, but it sounds like a good 'un.

Thanks!

Nicely done,

Doc -

I heard that you received that recipe from Dave.

Let me know if you have all that you need.
