The W32.Klez.h@mm virus is BACK!

Bank system cleaned out the above virus from a e mail from "Snakerivergroups@usa.net" this morning. The 'bug,' and it's a very nasty SOB, was imbedded in a document called "AARONMUELLER.DOC."

I bring this to your attention as the sender may be something you'd want to open. Secondly this is the first time I recall the virus being 'imbedded' in a ".doc." The document has a "play.exe" in it that has the virus.

"Be careful out there."

Quite the insidious virus, huh? I made a purchase from Ebay and paid via paypal. Later that day, I received an email with a "from" line that was the same as, or very similar to, the person from whom I made the purchase. The "subject" line was "Please resend". I tried to open the email, thinking that it was from the person I'd dealt with and that there was some problem with my payment. Fortunately, my anti-virus software caught it and would not allow me to open the email. I emailed the person I'd dealt with on Ebay and he had no idea what I was talking about and assured me that he had received my payment and that the email did not originate from his computer. Very bizarre . . .

Quentin, WOOOOOOSH .....

I think that was the sound of a large 'bullet' you just dodged. Your anti virus program may have just paid for itself.

Oh, I guess I failed to mention that my anti-virus software said it was the W32 virus.

Yes, Fred, it's nice to know that the anti-virus software really works!

Gad, two in two days. No reason to bring

this up but the 'new one' was from "okeyobey" and the virus was in an attachment called: "Support.txt." Interesting to get two of the same virus buried inside a ".doc," or in a ".txt" attachment.

Q: this particular virus has several 'children' that nut cases have played with to make it even nastier than the orig. one.

Another "first." :>(

Computer stopped the Himmie embedded in a jpg. I've read that could be done, but 'getting one' today was a first.

Is there no safe place left?

Fred:

I let my anti-virus subscription go out of date a few months ago. After Kelz (on acid) got done with my system I had to format my C-drives at both the house and the office. I (paid somebody) backed up all my data on an external drive, then scanned all the files as they reloaded. You can't beleive how many filse are infected by the Kelz virus. It dulpicates itself in so many different ways that if you get infected you are better off to start over.
