“Autumn Saltwater Angling – Extending Your Fishing Season”
Come join the Central Chapter of CCA-NH on Friday, September 13th at NH Fish & Game headquarters in Concord. Plan to arrive at 6:00 PM for flyfishing and spin casting demonstrations and instruction. Experienced fishermen and guides including Captain Dave Beshara, Bill Hubbard and Bob Mitchell will offer tips on casting, retrieval and rigging techniques that they have learned over many years of saltwater fishing for striped bass, bluefish, bonito, and false albacore. This is an excellent chance for the beginner and intermediate salt water fisherman to pick up a number of tips and some hands-on advice from the experts. Don’t worry about dinner, as there will be a hot dog and hamburger cookout that also will begin at 6:00 PM. At the same time, there will be a flytying and jig-making demonstration inside the Fish & Game building. The cookout and the event is open to the public and free of charge.
After everybody has had a chance to eat, the program will move inside where there will be a presentation about salt water angling from a kayak by veteran seacoast fisherman Bill Hubbard. If you are interested in float-tubing for striped bass, Eric Roach will be on hand to advise you on how to get started in this productive and affordable way to get on the water. Float tubes, kayaks, and appropriate gear and safety equipment will be on display.
Important information on Amendment 6 of the Striped Bass Management Plan and the Volunteer Striped Bass Angler Survey will be available from NH Fish & Game biologist Doug Grout.
The final part of the program will consist of a question and answer period with Captain Dave Beshara, Captain Cory Pietrasdek, and veteran outdoor writer Jack Fallon. CCA-NH member Bill Hubbard will moderate the interactive forum. These gentlemen literally have decades of saltwater fishing experience from Maine to Rhode Island including Cape Cod and the islands. Jack Fallon is a long-time participant in the Martha’s Vineyard fishing derby and will be able to fill you in on how to participate in the derby this year. Bring your marine charts, flies and lures as these guides are a wealth of information on the subject of saltwater fishing along the New England coast in the months of September through November.
Whether you are a novice or experienced fisherman, by the end of the evening you will have a better idea as to where to locate and catch the wonderful game fish species that inhabit the coast of New England during the autumn months.

NH Coastal Clean-up
The International Coastal Clean-up takes place on Saturday, September 21st between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. CCA-NH is supporting this worthy cause by volunteering to clean Goat Island and the surrounding bridge areas located off Route 1B in Newcastle, NH. CCA-NH helped purchase this public access site for fishermen and others in a cooperative effort with the US Fish & Wildlife Service and NH Fish & Game.
The stewardship of our coastline is part of CCA’s mission and we ask all who can to participate in this community event. To volunteer, please contact CCA-NH Secretary Eric Roach at email@example.com or by calling him at 603-474-7734.
