Monday I took the kids fishing on the "Avery J". Mike Johnson over at Old salt in Hingham runs a 24' Silverhawk out of Green harbor, what a sweet ride. We met Mike at the slip ~ 6am, it was already blowing pretty good. I was lucky enough to get this trip though barter and had been trying to proxy a day that the kids had no other activities and I could get out of work, finally it all came together. Mike said we could give it a shot but might have to cut things short to keep the ride pleasant. Off we go flying across the bay, destination "Race point" with the current pushing against the wind, a good chop built up but that boat just cut right though it without pounding. We get to the point in ~ 40 minutes and get out of the wind. The girls get a couple of blues on light spin gear and are generally just enjoying the morning. Even sheltered from the worst of the wind was too dangerous to flycast with the kids in the boat. We made a few more drifts but the bait was scattered about and . The wind picked up and we decided it made sense to cut it short and head back
. The ride back was about the same as the one out. I was really impressed with the way the that silverhawk sliced through the chop, it's certainly not a flats boat but what a ride. The kids are now convinced that we NEED a boat, and since the trip was cut short, Mike's taking me out to chase albies once they arrive.
All in all not a bad way to spend the morning.
