Chatham-7/21

Did not fish yesterday ...went to antique shops looking for old fish decoys.... Met Juro at the light house around 6:30 intending to take the 8 am shuttle to SB... Juro and I head for coffee then met Jim Whalen and his brother in law and Big Dave at the riprider...Juro and Big Dave head to Monomoy, and Jim ,his BIL and I go to SB.. Bueatiful day, slight SW breeze, incoming on the ocean...perfect.. right.... wrong. did not see a fish or even get a hit... same with Jim ..although he may have caught a schoolie... left at 11:45 and swung by N Monomoy to pickup some shuttlers... all the guys who went out to NM were comming back with similar stories... Don't know what juro did...but knowing him he must have got something. Anyway..I am fed up with this 8 am BS... all the boats, beach goers.. I am done...I tell you..done... Back to the text book... I am meeting Doublehaul tomorrow at 4 at the light house/...... then for the rest of the week I will be there at 3 am... and fish to no longer than 9 am... Time to concentrate on Night fishing... Have a good incoming tomorrw...I bump into four of my local fishing friends at Larry's PX and they are DONE for the day... "hey John, getting your bueaty sleep"... " maybe a little Golf later ..John...., at the club"...HA..HA....HA....Ho...Ho..HO...The whole place is looking at me.... I say... "You guys need a shower". they say ... "you know better than sleeping late in July"...HA..HA.. .. But they are right... anyway I took food off their plates.

any consolation it was quiet out front today too, I was back to the ramp by 10 after investigating some 'almost virgin' flats for future reference ( I know, how can you be 'almost' a virgin )
Plenty of bluefish but didn't see or land a striper from 4:45 - 9.

Now it's waiting for Charlie!

North wasn't too bad, big push of fresh fish. Saturday was ridiculous with the gale force winds and total lack of sunlight preventing any sight fishing aspirations.

I'm thinking the outer beaches might be the way to go if you can duck the mung. Time to put my Nauset pass to work!

That weather pushing through must have put everything down inshore. Fished four early floods this weekend on the bayside with nothing to show. Sunday am went out to postup station #1 and immediately saw a schoolie coming toward me within ten feet. Thought it might be a fishy morning but didn't see anything other that some small fish bustin on bait at one spot on the walk in. I know the front passing through put a damper on things but I've decided my bayside spot has finally gone into summer mode. After Maine next weekend its time for something different, time to get skunked in Chatham.

mung!
It's been moving steadily south along the outer beaches. Sat I was off Nauset and it wasn't bad at all but maybe the winds Saturday brought it all up off the bottom because Sunday morning it as as thick as soup from the beachfront out 100+ yds...

water was real dirty up inside Nauset in pleasant bay as well...

Nice weather Sunday. I saw 4 fish on SB, all mobys. I had a shot at 2 of them about a 30' heads up cruising in the right direction, spazzed the cast on one and the other spooked as soon as I made a back cast. Nice to see such large fish in knee deep water though. Rich and I fish up in Pleasants bay before bumping into Juro and John at the light. I got a small schoolie and had a LDR on a small blue ~5ish. Seems like as soon as the sun burned through the action stopped.
