Hey Spark,

Montana Rocks! So does Wyoming.

Did a lot of recon. Put 1200 miles on the Blazer. Am anticipating a special cleanup fee from Avis. Stayed in Big Sky. High point at base camp was seeing a huge cow moose with calf grazing in the creek while we ate breakfast.

Spent most of my time outfitting kids and getting my bro. up to speed. Spent lots of time tying like a fiend to keep us all (6 total) in flies. Everyone got fish but the water was high nearly everywhere making access tricky for the kids. One guy died on the Gallatin while we were there. He was apparently >300lbs on a whitewater raft trip. He got ejected and drowned.

Fished the Gallatin Ė really cool to watch the Salmon flies move up stream each day. Now thatís one hatch even I can sort out. The upper stretch in the park was gorgeous. Lots of help and good suggestions from Steve French and crew at Gallatin River Guides.

Fishing the caddis hatch on the upper Madison from 8-11pm was our favorite and most productive stretch. I think the next trip will be based out of West Yellowstone. That would allow access to YNP, Gallatin, and Madison rivers.

Met some great people. It was fun to speak with Craig Matthews, John Juracek, and company at Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. About a week before we went out there I bought the DVD they produced that reviews all the major hatches on the rivers in that area. Delightful guys in person and watching them catch fish for 2+ hours on the tube is a great way to get psyched up before you go.

Fished the Sky Sunday. Pretty cool to have an awesome river with mountains as dramatic as any in the country right here. Good to be back home. Iíll post some pics when I get them.

Bob
