Rip Trip 2002-#1

I will speak with Keith tommorrow as well as Juro... Looking to Friday and/or Saturday of this week... who can go?... you all know this is weather dependent and the wind is a big factor... also..have not looked at the tides so a mid-day low is what we hope for.. I will check. This is not a sign up just an an early bell.. After I speak with Juro and Keith will post sign up... If we have more people than can handle one trip we may be able to do two... one on Friday and one of Saturday...

I may be able to go on Friday. I'll get back to you after I consult with my activities coordinator.

Thumbs up

I'd be interested in a trip for Friday, Saturday or both (assuming I can find somewhere to stay in chatham).

Saturday would be my first choice (have to feign some attempt at work Friday ) but, if it comes to the crunch - Friday it is!

Interested in Friday the 5th for two

I have been wanting to go on a Rip Trip for some time. Would be able to supply 2 people for a Friday the 5th of July outing. Let me know the details on how to sign-up and where to meet.

With Tyler, that's 10 people. Now we need to make a commitment.

(1) Be aware that if you commit you will need to be able to go either Friday or Saturday. If Friday is cancelled by Rip Ryder, people will be expected to be available for Sat. You will have to pay either way ($30)

(2) In the event of weather that prohibits a safe return by boat, you may need to walk up to 8 miles to the inside pick up point. This has happened one time. I caught some nice fish on the way north, wasn't too bad.

Should be perfect timing, lots of fish on the outside rips, dog days have arrived inshore, etc.

Unhappy I'm out

Too many other things going on for me to manage a one-day trip to the Cape. Guess I'll have to try to make Rip Trip #2.

Anyone know where I'll be able to sign up for this trip? Leaving work and the computer behind at 2pm for the holiday. Will I be able to contact the RipRyder directly or is there any other way I can still be involved in this adventure?

Stop by and say hi if you're out there. I'm the 6'4" dude with a black sims cap and red sunglasses.

Happy 4th to all!

Dave

Not sure what our status is, but looking at the trusty Eldridge Guide:

High Tide at Monomoy Point (how much closer can you get?)

Friday 08:35 a.m.

Saturday 09:30 a.m.

Outgoing almost from arrival to departure both days but the tides are nothing to shout about (8.4 ft on Friday 5th vs 11.3ft on the 13th). According to Eldridge, when the High Water height is below 11ft, the current strength is reduced by up to 40% at 8ft. That means much less impressive rip formations.

Last year I was lucky enough to make the rip trip on two successive days and the difference in rip strength was incredible. On the Sunday we were wondering if the rip would ever get going whereas the previous day we had a good 3 hours of strong water movement.
