Hand fishing- Noodling

I did not know which topic to put this under, but did anyone watch PBS tonight on the subject of handfishing for cat fish. Apparently it is legal in only four states... The show was facinating. These guys would crawl along shore banks ,sticking their hands in holes under water and use there fingers as bait for huge cat fish. They sometimes had to go under water to finish the job. With no teeth in the fish they would then grab the fish by the mouth and pull them out. This is in waters crawling with snakes , beaver and snapping turtles. They call it Noodling and had their first tournament a couple years ago with 40 participants. The sport is carried down from generation to generation. It will probably be on again so catch it if you can.

John

See the post I put up on this a few days ago. A URL to there web site. Saw a write up in the local paper here last week. I saw a tv show on this a couple of years ago, now these are "real men"

It must be the Noodling season down there now.

'Gotta admit' saw this some time back and

interesting as it might have been, I was sickened by the whole thing. For food I could understand, as a "contest?????"
