Question Trunk Racks

Anyone got any ideas on how to mount a two piece surf rod in my company cars trunk? I would like to mount it on the inside of the trunk lid so it will be ready to go when the urge presents itself! Gotta hide it from the boss!

While I haven't seen one rack just for inside a trunk lid. I have seen racks designed for inside truck caps that should work. The toughest part will be mounting it. I'll see if I can find some info on it again.

Greg.

Cabellas has one...

I saw the vehicle rod holder for trucks again I was thinking of for $19 at cabellas (CC-1-0315-001).
Says it can be used in virtually any vertical or overhead application. Might require a few modifications for your application as trunk lids come in all shapes and sizes.

Greg.

Or go to a 5-pc RPLXi and just keep it in your briefcase!

I'd worry about two things if I put a rod on the underside of the trunk lid.

Is the trunk opening wide enough for the rod?
Will I slam the trunk lid down on a full trunk & break a rod?
One approach that I used when I had a pickup was to bungee cord rod tubes to the back of the cab. That might work for a trunk lid. If nothing else its cheap.

When you find one you think will work you could use some 5000 lb. epoxy available at marine stores- West/ Hamilton- to mount it. That should keep it put.
