Wollaston AM

Decided to visit my local beach this am for a bit of daybreak fishing. Had the 8wt rigged and ready and arrived at about 04:30 to find some willing micros and one 22" fish before packing up at 06:30.
Had a plesant visit from none other than 'daddy doogue' who noticed the 'forum' headgear and said " hey, my two sons have been fishing with folks from the forum".
Now guys, you've got to give dad back at least one of the flyreels. He wasn't really interested in tossing that spinning rod this morning.

Damn,

I thought that you were referring to my brother when you talked about Daddy Doogue...but that was MY Dad that you were talking about. Rest assured, his 9 wt Sage and his Ross reel are sitting at home where I dropped them off last weekend. Maybe he thinks that the gear is still MIA.

Daddy Doogue has been scouting the Boston beaches for fish for many years. You get a good shot at fish when you have to be at work at 6 AM and you do not mind getting up pre-dawn.

I will be sure to poke fun at him tonight and get him out there with the 9 wt tomorrow.

What is this, All In The Family?

Sorry I missed you Bob. I actually ran into "daddy doogue" on my way through Quincy this afternoon. He was checking out the action on his way home from work.

I had the presence of mind to throw my light spinning gear in my trunk this morning along with my small tackle box. After I ran into my dad I started chucking a small silver and blue kastmaster into the current at Black's Creek. I'm happy to say that I landed two schoolies on company time(shhh! That is a secret). One was 15" and the other was 20", but on light tackle it was a blast. It's only May 10th and my fishing drought is over.

I must have looked a bit funny standing on the shore in black Rockport dress shoes, dress pants, and a dress shirt(I took the tie off).

Dad seems like a great guy, he just wanted to stand there and take in the morning scene. I'm sure he'll be there tomorrow. If it's before dawn, tell him to try a 3" black/red flatwing.....
I'm running a sales meeting in Concord NH tomorrow, wonder how the suit & tie ould look under the waders?

Hope to meet the rest of the clan soon.

Bob, after talking to my father today, I believe I actually met you on Wednesday.

I was the guy standing on the jetty looking on as you all caught fish. I noticed the Forum hat, and we had that brief conversation, while you packed up your gear, about the structure off-shore.

It was a pleasure meeting you. I'm sure we'll cross paths again sometime.

All the best,

~Mark Doogue
