Popovics Tandem Surf Candies

Here are two examples of The Popovics "tandem" surf candies, obviously intended to resemble two "schooling" sand eels. I tied these last year and brought them back from the Cape intending to tye some like this but as silversides.

I absolutely love this pattern. It's an example of just how creative Popovics' mind really is. Why eat one baitfish when you can have two?

And, as an added bonus, it looks like the tail of the front fly will help keep weeds off the hook.

I have two questions for you John. Is that a Mustad Keel hook they are tied on ( I can't remember the #)? And how are the hooks for hooking and fighting fish? I'm curious because somewhere I have some Rays flys tied on those hooks that I 've never gotten around to trying.
