Long Hackle Sand Eel

Here is another experiment and I liked the way it came out. I took long thin hackles from my Kenny Abrames material and some green/yellow Chenille and made this clouser. I think it will work.

Question

John --

interesting flash position. Normally it's tied as topping rather than the bottom layer....any particular reason?

It's about 5 inches... Jared. the sand eel has a white bottom so I thought I would reverse it against the usual thinking. The flash is actually somewhat at the lower middle. also... in a rip the eel turns all over the place. I am also tying this fly without flash and only a white hackle bottom. Unlike a bunker or other bait fish I like to think of the eel somewhat different. I think of flash on the eel as more of an attractor as oppose to sun reflection from the top... just my thinking.
