Tide Chart

Does anyone know a website that will calculate tides for Turneffe Atoll and surounding cays in Belize?

Joe, good to hear from you. Sounds like you are planning a charter trip. Good stuff! Don @ Leland probably knows the tides off the top of his head and you should talk to him. He will push his "mothership" trips on you, and if you weren't chartering a boat, this is a terrific deal. Don can be really helpful. Patty and I had a terrific trip last Spring(I posted on this site). Hope all is well,Eddie

1st trip to Turneffe Flats

Adrian...thanx for the web site;it has the current tides for the area. I have been tying many patterns in Dick Brown's book for my first trip to Turneffe Flats. He suggests patterns for Belize in the back of the book. Several people have said not to bother with anything other than Crazy Charlies, Gotcha's and a few crab patterns. But so many of the other flies suggested are sooo cool that I had to tie them as well. My question is: should I stick with the tried and true. As a steelheader my mindset is any fly well presented will work. Will that mindset transfer to saltwater? With little experience in the tropics any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe, if Charlies and Gotchas were all you needed...what fun would that be? Sometimes they'll hit any well presented fly. Sometimes they won't. Bonefish Bitters worked well for me in Belize. Also, don't forget to tie some "blind" patterns for the really shallow stuff.
I guese your not sailing down there. Maybe on your next trip. Have you been to the Keys since we last spoke? Eddie
