Question 8wgts & 350gr lines

I have seen a deal on an 8 wgt rod but I already own the 350 gr set up - Is the line too much for the 8, am I better off with a 9?

BTW: I'll be harrasing stripers...

I spent a September day last year throwing a 350 gr. Rio Striper on my #7 XP without a problem and I routinely throw my 300 gr. 24' head on that rod without a problem.

An XP can handle it but if you were to heed recommended grain weights you'd be pretty far off the scale with 350 grains on an 8wt. I find that a 350 loads a 9wt well.

Ryan is a very patient caster, he has a smooth casting stroke and you'd need that to work 350 grains on a 7wt IMHO.
