If it's Chatham, it's not a bad idea to start with a sand eel



This coming year I hope to make a serious effort at Chatham's school BFT on the fly rod. Thought a big flashy sand eel might be worth a try. We'll be stress-testing those Varivas hooks for sure.

Bob... nice pattern... I tied a couple similar ones this weekend for the CCA auction... as soon as I get to understand the "bits" issue with posting picture I will have some to show you.

Try tying a few of these puppies up with weighted cone heads.

Ray,
Thanks for the link. I actually wanted this fly to lay up on/near the surface like a long slider. There are times when the fish drive the sandeels up to the surface and I though this might be effective up high in the water column. A tungsten cone buried inside the braid head would be a great way to drag it down....
