2002 Casting Clave Thread

Just thought I'd post a thread to start the dialog on this upcoming event (March 09).

I suggest minimum occupancy 30 people, maximum 40. $20 per head with wives and children free. In other words we need to get 30 people to sign up to hold the event. We will stop the signups at 40.

The event is held at the Reading Athletic Center, a huge facility only minutes from the Wilmington Shriner's Auditorium where the Fly Show will be happening. The hours are 3pm to 7pm, so those going to the show will have several hours there before the short drive to the RAC.

Contests and casting instruction will be provided. Thanks to Mark Doogue, the parent/child casting contest winner will go home with a pair of Bruins tickets (applause to Mark).

Tom Dunlap will be accompanied by the Powell Rod rep, so make sure you try out all the rods they will bring.

Several Spey rods will be rigged and ready for those who are curious about them.

Tables will be set up alongside so if you need to catch up on a few flies for a swap feel free.

A beginner's class will be held like last year, so if you want to expose a child or spouse to a first view of fly casting this is a great place to do it.

Please post a list of rods you plan to bring along so people can have an idea what they might want to test while at the clave.

Psyched to see everyone there!

I'll bring along my Sage 3-pc RPLXi/Ross Canyon BG-5 combo.

I also have two beginners that would like to attend if space permits. Also, I'm sure my Dad would love to come and catch up with you all.

That makes 5 so far, inluding Juro.

Mike won't be able to make it, but I'm sure I could grab his Winston BL-5 10wt and his Sage RPLXi 5-pc 9wt. Dad has a Sage RPL+ 9wt I believe, too.

I'll bring
1. 10wt penn with the airflo interchangeable head line, kind of a slow rod by saltwater standards but there may be interest in the line system.
2. Redington sff 9' 9wt 4pc

3. The 5wt I built (if I ever get a chance to lay on the finish)
My daughter will also attend with the rod she got in the raffle last year.

Looking forward to it.

Oooh Me too!, Me too!

I'll be bringing my reel w/ a 350 gr line, a note book & a gorgeous redheaded woman (and maybe a gun or two )

She'll be in for the newbie classes & I'll be shopping for a new 8/9/10 wgt. to match my reel...

Oh yeah, and a liberal amount of enthuisasm & cheer - a la M-boro show.

edit - where do we send the deposit?
