100 Flies in two weeks

I am going crazy... And need a digital camera. I have been tying now straight for two weeks.. That is in my spare time after work into the eve. Here's a sample of the results.. A Hugh Sedotti Slammer, Cris Windram bunny eels, Epoxy bait fish with polar fiber in gray and tan---looks incredibly real---10, Whitlock's Bait fish.---several. 24 variety of Lefty's deceiver some with buck tail shoulders others with marabou.. Sand eels with epoxy heads with Icelandic sheep bodies...Angel hair bait fish--12.... Polar fiber bait fish tied high tie--20... all flies tyed in various colors... now will be moving into Crease flies and Squid patterns.. looking to do about 20 different squid patters... I am using three books.. Ververkas book,Saltwater flies: 700 of the best, and Saltwater fly patterns by Left Kreh.. after that Brown's Bone fish flies.. one each in his book.. All of these I intend to make a display case or two for CAC and will bring some to the Show for examples at the tying table... I will finish the project with the Deep eel and Rat's Ass. I am having a blast. I am anxious to share these Epoxy realistic bait fish..By using a corsar spreader..small.. I am able to get a good translucent silverside. I MUST DO MORE.....more......more

Wow 100 in two weeks. I have done about 50 0ver the last three weekends. I hear the professional fly tyers have to do at least 5-6 dozen a day to survive. Don't know if I could do that with out going crazy. I will keep it as a great hobby and tackle expenditure reduction program for sure though.

Now in the teens here in Chicago winter has set in, probably no chance to hit the michigan steelhead rivers this week as planned. It was fifty degrees here a week ago . 20 years ago I could winter fish in 20 degree weather but now I think 40 degrees is the coldest I would try it. One time I did 10 degrees with a wind chill of probably zero, man that was cold. I had the prime stretch of the St Josephs river in Michigan all to myself on Christmas eve, I wonder why !!

I was the only one stupid enough to be out there thats why. But that was when I first started steelheading in 1980 and really had the fever to catch one and the thirty year old body to do it. Also being a down hill skier and spending a year in Iceland had developed my tolerance to cold I suspect,

Happy holidays and tying to all !

Don't worry I am not going professionnal.. but I actually did take my time and really have fun at creating a new personal series.... even though I fish with maybe two or three types of flies. I would really go crazy if I just tied three all the time.

Agree don't know how the professional tyers do it. I go crazy after perhaps half a dozen of one pattern and then have to switch to something else. To professionally tie dozens of the same pattern every day would make me crazy.

I'm hot on your tail Striblue - I've tied 3 realeels in two weeks. As I've said before, I'm a deliberate tyer.

After looking at some auctioned samples over at ffsw I think I'd like a lesson from Mr. Pink at the show later this month. Absolutely Amazing fly's.

Fred...Bob is a master..no doubt about that... there is one technique I will show you that is for the angel hair flies..tying is small clumps to get the full body, etc.
