Cool Day after Thankgiving

Will you be shopping, working, yard work, fishing or what?

Fishing reports are sketchy. Is anyone still dropping a hook? Plan on doing some shore fishing during the holiday period. There are still fish around in the Providence area. Most will hold over at the electric power plant. Wonder if access is going to be a problem?

Fishing the Farmington Friday for trout, possibly Old Saybrook area Sat for stripers and/or shad - or perhaps a trip to the Shettucket R for broodstock salmon. Will report next Monday.

Question Fishing this coming Holiday weekend

Well I might be making a trip down NJ way to fish with a friend who I have been corresponding with for the last 2 months. He is going to check the reports and the weather and let me know what will be the best day this weekend. Will be joining him on his 18 Parker CC, he said it's been real good all the way down to Cape May, but he has been fishing Raritan Bay mostly and down to Sandy Hook. So we will see if the weather holds up then I will probably go. I will let you all know how I make out if I do manage to get down there.

Tightlines,
Striper

Trip Cancelled!!!

Got a call from my buddy in NJ and he said that it would be a good idea if we did not go tomorrow due to the weather report. Bummed me out but I know how it is when the weather is no good especially on an 18 ft. CC. Well he did say he would keep an eye on the fishing and we could try and get out maybe next week. He says the fishing should hold up down there until at least christmas time so who knows.

Decided to try the fresh water scene today. Headed down to south county Rhode Island to a popular pond called Meadow Brook. The state restocks it around Columbus Day weekend for fall forays. The day seemed perfect enough. Had the whole pond to myself for two hours. Didn't have a tap, but still enjoyed the day. Couldn't believe I was never interrupted by another fisherman. The pond skits Route 91 highway. Usually you get a gorker or two in the parking lot on a nice day.

Saw two rises of trout with a few black midge flies on the surface. Surface temp was 44 degrees. Must be other fish around. There was an osprey making strafes toward the northern end of the pond than returned to his perch with nothing for his work.

Can't get over my muscle memory. So used to throwing them 8-10 wgt. Putting a 5 wgt in my hand with a softer flex really felt like it was throwing my timing off.
