How about all Three!

Seriously, any one sounds good. ArtB says earlier is better, but strong tides on the 13th sound good too!

Pt. Jude area is red hot right now. Knocked down 4 false albacore yesterday with clients. Countless opportunities. Plenty of 10 pound bass at day break. We caught a huge 14 pound bluefish that had a hook in him already with a two pound bluefish head attached. Hooked a thirty pound bass on a fly. Awesome! Hit the fly toward the surface. Tremendous splash. We could see his entire length and size. Took off toward Block Island. Client was hanging on for dear life for three minutes. Plays with the drag and the fish actually pops his fly line.

RhodyClave IMHO - the earlier the better.

My preference would be the 6th/7th, but I should be able to make the 13th/14th as well.

I have to respect Arts feelings on this one,
I vote for the 5th/6th if the weather looks good. Otherwise the following weekend for a rain date might not be a bad idea.

Greg.

The problem with the 6/7th of Oct is that it's part of Columbus weekend. I think we have traditionally avoided having claves on holiday weekends. It tends to reduce the numbers as people have other holiday related commitments. I do for sure. But I can't promise I can evan break away for any weekend. I can try though.

My preference is the 13th/14th, but I can still go on the 6th/7th. We should decide soon so that we have time to reserve the campsites and cabins, especially if we pick the 6th/7th (holiday weekend).

Good Point Quentin letís try nail down a date by Monday.
I didnít even think of the holiday weekend factor, thanks Terry. I am leaning towards the 13/14th with a possible daytrip on the holiday weekend to check things out. I called Burlingame and unfortunately the cabins are all booked for Columbus day weekend.
Hereís some food for thought:
RhodyFest 2000 was on 10/21 & 22 and the action could have been better. Chuck and Dana(professor bodkin) found large fish feeding on juvi bunker at deep hole on Friday 10/20. Word from Saltwater edge was that things were pretty hot along that area the previous week. Capt. Ray even boated a Bonito on 10/22. The year before that was even colder and very, very windy but we did pretty well, with part of the group getting into monster Blues. The weather will of course play a role but as far as fishing goes, I consider the wind to be more of a factor than rain. Rain will definitely affect the comfort level and in Oct. itís a cold rain, we should all be prepared for it.
I think of Rhody as the last blast of the season, heading south to chase the fish that have vacated the areas I normally fish. Iím sure there are fish to be caught on the cape as well but thereís something about chasing them South that appeals to me.
