braggin' rights - first keeper 2013?

Let's see the pics... I've not wet a line yet here on the Cape but will be hard at it by next month. I figure some of you guys in Rhody, CT, MD or NY should be getting into the post-spawn migration action by now?

you can't keep them on the chesapeake until April 20th though so I don't know if that counts as a keeper? The boat on the cape goes in next week!

schoolies already showing - I'll bet the first pushes of good bass will be about 2-3 weeks from the cape and short-circuiting through the cut

headed to the eastern shore for a week tomorrow and thinking I should bring some gear. Not sure if the boats are in the water yet down there... but it might be worth it if the "rockfish" are still hiding up the bay in Easton???

sure they are. Where are you heading? Are you planning to fish from shore or boat?

headed to DC for the weekend then over to Easton for the week. If the boats are in I should have access to a couple of them. Unless I am correct though they usually dont go in until May 1 which ??? Let me know if you are in the area.

I'll be on the cape this weekend but I live in dc and fish the chesapeake weekly. The kill season just opened last weekend so most people are fishing. Lots of big breeder cows in the bay although numbers are lower than other years

Could be that the "kill season" is contributing to low numbers. Just sayin' -- you want fish, don't kill them all.

I haven't kept a bass in 7 seasons for that reason. I was just commenting that a lot of people are out now because they can keep fish. bad reason to fish in my opinion

Has anyone struck paydirt yet? I'm venturing out tomorrow but not sure where. I'm considering RI since that seems to be the only area with consistent reports, but would rather not trailer that far. Or maybe look at Buzzards bay with the fallback plan of jigging some Toutog. Hopefully the boat runs well if nothing else.

I got 11 "keepers" yesterday up to 38" wading, all sight fishing the migration (none kept).

Looks like the sun is scarce thru the weekend, although Monday looks good. If you know anyone looking to explore the "new" Monomoy with an old Monomoy guide have them drop me a line, I still have dates open and will be exploring that thoroughly now that the break will be charging the refuge with crisp flows all summer long.
