Elwha is open.....

The lower canyon is now passable to the returning Native Spring Steelhead! I will be prowling the banks of Little River and Indian Creek to see for myself.

I just heard several days ago that 3 steelhead were identified in a trib above where the 1st dam was.

No still here. We were blown out today, but looking forward to fishing the Bogey tomorrow. Levels are dropping nicely.

May the steelhead gods be merciful to you. In higher water I always did well with red over orange over white popsicles, my creeper pattern tight bright and big, or dark and nasty (e.g. black bunny leeches). Milk the hangdowns and work closer to shore than usual before stepping down.

Tne camera this morning shows rapid water 200 yards above the Lower Canyon, I almost said Dam.
