Long live the Elwha

Each spec of turquoise silt that colors the Elwha in high flows is freed from a timeless capture in a glacier - passing by in a blink to the pacific, which feeds the rains which rebuilds the glaciers to repeat the cycle over many thousands of years. The indigenous salmonids have been an inseparable part of this cycle centuries before man, yet we are on the brink of destroying it in a cosmic instant. To see this river and it's Olympic mountain cradle is unforgettable and its revival is a human legacy transcending all of the trivial things that we obsess over in the daily news. Long live the Elwha!

Growing a River...

Lake Aldwell is slowly becoming a River again there is now over 3/4 of a mile of free flowing and dynamic river which starts 300 yards above the 101 Bridge at about the mouth of Little River. This is all very interesting to watch I can hardly wait to see what next year at this time will bring
