Fun to watch....

Its only a three minute drive from my house to the parking lot to access a short trail to the "Observation Point". The destuction at the lower dam is going full tilt the South or as I call it East Spillway is a pile of rubble and the gates in the middle will be gone fast as there are 4 big excavators with "giant Jak hammers" jakin away at it, huge off road dump trucks are hauling the debris to a collection site where the parking used to be for canyon access back when we fished the river.

Amazing show of dam removal

Just Thought I would kick this back up as they have greatly improved the site since the original Post. You can now hit a few Klicks and watch the last couple of months work go by in a few minutes. Very possible to have it all gone in less than a year. We'll see!

Gillnets still fishing....

The Native Gillnet fishery is still open in the Elwha! There is a net in the Bridge Hole and another one fishing in the Estuary. Out for a walk this morning and I saw a young fellow kill 2 Chrome Bright Steelheads in his net in the Estuay.
