Post those bonito / albie flies NOW!

It won't do us much good to post patterns after we get there, so I suggest we post fly patterns now to allow those who are coming to tie up a few offerings to the speed demons of the deep.

I'll post my "wasabi special" when I get to my vise and digital camera. Photos are awesome but in our haste any good verbal will do.

Post these patterns in the fly pattern database for posterity please!

Hmmmm... I got 2 white Bonito Bunnies tied last winter. But that might not do. Better get tying. Anyone got a recipe for that triangle shaped fly from the Vineyard? Hear it works well.

Last years fly for me was a white deceiver with white maribou underneath and light gray maribou on top. Epoxy head and eyes.

Hang it out there and hang on...

I'll post mine as soon as I get the pics ready(How do I add it to the posting) it is the "funny bunny". it is basically a small size jiggy head, behind which is crosscut rabbit over 6 or so strands of flash with a 4 inch zonker strip tail skin side up, over a mono loop. the head gives this fly great movement in the water column. Tom,
To add it to a post the image (usually .jpg)must be sitting on the web somewhere. Do you have or know anyone with webspace? Once you dump your image there you point to it in your post like so:

*img=http://www.toms_webspace.com/some_directory/bonefly.jpg*
Just replace the both * with [
If you don't have web space let me know I can throw your image up or maybe the forum has space.

Tom -

Just email the image to me, if you know how reduce it to ~20k first. If you don't know how to reduce it, email it as is and I will reduce the byte size for you. Email to juro@flyfishingforum.com, not yahoo please.

JPEG preferred, but others are OK.

Oh yeah... use the icon for details on all that too.

I look forward to getting your patterns!

Tied up some of these for the 'Noids. A mix bag between Sully's fly and one picked up for a model from Bob D. at Blue Northern. Lively Mirabou under a typical white deceiver with some flash. I used Grey Bucktail on top (I read that variation somewhere??)The Bonito/Albies WILL have to inhale them and run, bang.

EZBody Silverside

I started using this pattern late last summer, and found it to be very successful. I caught my one and only albie on this pattern (not bad considering I only had one episode of casting to breaking fish), and also stripers and bluefish.

Materials:

Hook - Mustad 34007, size 1/0
Thread - Flat waxed nylon, white
Throat - white bucktail
Wing - silver flashabou, over which is sparse chartreuse bucktail, over which is olive bucktail.
Body - EZ-Body tubing, pearl, medium size.
Eyes - adhesive reflective eyes covered with thin coat of epoxy or Softex.

RE:Post those bonito / albie flies NOW!

the funny bunny
this fly can make a sluggo look dead in the water. it'll get you all over the water column unlike a traditional bunny fly. This fly has caught stripers in Duxbury when all else failed me.

hook: short shanked hook,34007 or similar size 1
head: jiggy head(small)with 2 wraps of .30 lead to hold it in place... use small ones, I
tried the med and large and found casting difficult. these are heavy compaired to
clouser eyes.
mono loop: 30 mason hard mono, or equivalent
thread: flatwaxed(my preference),any will do
tail: zonker strip
body: crosscut rabbit
OPTIONAL:
flash over tail
stick on prism eyes

the 1st step is to put the jiggy head over the hook then wrap 2 winds of lead over the shank and slide it hard against the back of the head and wind with thread to keep it from sliding around. next: wrap the shank with tread to the bend, coat with head cement. cut a peice of mono, to make a loop that will be 1/4 inch beyond the hook bend.wrap this tight! then place a zonker stip(whatever length you prefer) skin side up along the shank and wrap with thread to the hook point. now you can add flash or not on top of zonker and secure. coat the shank with a bit of cement. take crosscut rabbit strip and (making sure the fur aims to the back)and wind it down the shank to the jiggy head, cut it here and whip finish and cement thread. you can add stick-on eyes to the jiggy head and use nail polish to make more durable. I have to give credit to Capt. Steve Moore for the name, I didn't have one till he saw it.

I have this on the pattern forum, and emailed Juro the pics
