No need to re-register as I understand it

I buy an annual saltwater license for the state of Washington so it appears I will not have to do anything as of 2011...

http://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/index.html

Which probably means the information is shared with NOAA from each state license sale database.

But you DO still have to buy MA saltwater license- I don't believe the WA license will be honored here in the Bay State.....

Correct - per the other thread (I should've stayed in one thread) the feds no longer need anything if you buy a license BUT as of 2011 MA does

This is vague. Wow... Or maybe not... not sure!

I live in NY, but recently on opening days in CT, had the chance to talk with a few CT DEP officers in person, I queried them what their stance was on asking for salt fishing licenses at saltwater venues which they patrol in CT, they were not aware of any subtleties in the regulations and assumed reciprocity for neighboring states NY and RI. They were much more concerned with non-licensed fresh water people, not salt. This came as a surprise to me, since reading the CT regulations on the ct.gov/dep/ websites leaves the situation unclear enough for me to have made several calls to CT DEP to see if it could be clarified.

The folks I talked to at CT DEP said reciprocity is certainly honored in the "marine district" in CT. This is not clear from the regulations, as stated, however, simply because the boundaries of the Marine District are not clearly defined. Both NY and CT have experienced severe budget cuts in the past 18 months, cutting personnel and enforcement officers. I'm sure MA must be in a similar situation.

Personally I like the RI governor's stance when he said fishing in the salt is a birthright, and everyone else be damned. (I paraphrase, but whatever.

Apparently if I buy a Taxachussetts Salt Water license as a non-resident it'll set me back $10. No extra processing fees from what I can tell. I might just go ahead, and do it!
