2 hand cape canal notifications sent.

If you haven't recieved one and are interested ,pm me and I'll send you the details. If it turns out this particular day is cold rainy and nasty,we could try for the next day if your interested.A cold raw rainy windy April day on the canal is not a pleasant way to spend your day.

Your right; I forgot it was Easter weekend.Family does and will come first. For those who can't make this one I plan on having a couple more canal 2 hand gatherings as the season progresses.

I am new(ish) to the whole two handed rod thing. When I am on a river I use my switch rod (or spey rod) with either a T14 sinking tip section on a skagit line or split shot on a Airflo Speydicator line. Due to limited back casting room I don't overhand cast. I also have a long belly line which I have no business using :-). It would seem to me that for the canal I want a line that can throw weight so I am guessing the skagit and/or speydicator would be perfect.

What type of line do you normally use and what casting style?

Thanks,
Quinn

Skagit line ;90% of the area has little to none as far as backcast room,I generally use a 10 wt.loaded with a 700 grain skagit with 10-15 ft sink 9 tips or T-14 .I use bigbigbigbigbig flies and need the grains to throw em.If you want to attract something big in the canal you have to throw something big at em.The early months of the canal striper season will have bait ranging from 8-16",sea herring, blue back herring, alewife's,menhaden and mackerel and last year there was whiting. Little clousers and such don't do it.
