Wet Wading Question

If a footwear question can kick off 3 pages of discussion, what about a more important piece of wet wading equipment? So, I ask, boxers or briefs?

Gary....are you serious, you have got to be kidding....also...After the last thread I will not touch that with a 10 inch , I mean foot, pole. Well, My only thought, without research, is it would depend which will keep that sand out...you can always wear diapers thought it "depends"...get it. WAIT!!! You just gave me a great idea....Gary, my man, we can make a fortune with that.

Garry, I would opt for briefs, preferably neoprene if wet wading. In addition, no zippers or Velcro.

Material is the most important. Loose and the faster drying the better.

Hmmm

I like the new STEALTH FLATS WADING UNDERWEAR I have seen online for $250 pair.

Very fashionable and go with all my other "equipment".

They are supposed to help you:
sneak up on the fish
increase your casts by 20 feet
let you wade for more hours than normal underwear
can be used as flats boots if wrapped around your feet
can be used as headgear on a sunny day or as a party hat at the Squire after several Rum and Cokes.

A must have for the sophisticated Fly Fisherman

This is all good advice.....I like the commando approach. BTW the sand issue would depend on if you are an army helmet or anteater. I am having a hard time with which post is serious and which is not.

I'll help you John.....at least I am serious about this......now that you let the cat out of the bag re "depends".....I regretabley will go on record as saying that I prefer "wick-away Depends boxer briefs". Velcro tabs cut off as they collect huge amounts of sand, substituted with stainless steel safety pins. They work....just ask Garry.....the seats of his new vehicle (aka---the stripermobile) are still in mint condition. It's a long drive to the Cape for us.
Thanks Garry....have enjoyed the laughs and creativity!!!

Ahha!!!...thus the genesis of the original query....Gary wants to move on from what he is using now...that explains it..but cleverly disguises it in a generic question. Thanks Pax.

Ron, you just jogged my memory...so I looked back on news reports...Remember the woman who was apprehended for driving across country with diapers on...some military person (frank will correct me if wrong)...or something....well I looked back on the story and here is what I found in the last paragraph of the AP report.

.." ....Police were also on the lookout for another individual who was reported to be driving in tandem with the accused....They knew he was driving in some sort of outdoor or fishing clothing. he avoided capture since they were focusing on the woman and he blew though the roadblock unnoticed...they remain searching and Chief Kelly indicated that, 'This is what the country is coming too... you now have automobile driving Clubs which have diaper driving as a sport. Next thing you know flyfishermen themselves will wear them everywhere." I am wondering ? are you?

The woman in question was an astronaut. She was field testing the first prototype "flats depends" that striblue alluded to. John, don't you remember that non-disclosure form I had you sign? Now everyone knows about them....

I like joking around as much as the next guy but lets get back to the serious question here on preferable underwear. It's a subject that begs an answer and we have a few but what's the bottom line here...whoa, that was not intended as a pun. I am sure there are many who are saying let's get on with the discussion and be serious. I am taking Juro's approach and will go commando so the issue is of no significance to me.( Joe Brooks went commando style)I will look into the history of underwear and see if I can find any historic avenues to help us get guidance visavis wading and fishing. some of you may think me a party pooper...Gary will you google "The Diaper diving club of America"...I think for variety that might be a good place to start...and I was joking when I said you might be the missing diaper driver...back to business please.......................................let's take this seriously.. ( I am laughing to hard right now thinking it may end up that way)...

Did someone mention NASA?!

FYI: "NASA Depends" arguably falls in the first category...
