Photo Crab

This crab pattern has been in R&d for several years after seeing Striblue's Crab Apple. It has been tested on the Cape and the Westport River with great success.
Flytying is an evolving process and this fly is no different.
What I have done is taken a photo of a Lady Crab, printed the photo and mounted it on a jig hook. I coated the carapace with CCGoo for durability.

Could one or both of you post the instructions on how to tie those great looking crab flies?

The instructions are long and varied but if you do a search in the fly tying forum there are two long posts on the instructions...search "crab Apple and look down the list and you will see instructions. let me know if that does not help.

Billy, you sly devil, you've been hiding the prototypes from Craig and I while slamming those big bass. Now you've done it, airing it on the forum for all the world to see. Looks terrific See you and your new crab soon.

Pass the cocktail sauce! They look good enough to boil.

If it's not giving out too much info, when you photographed the lady crab, did you ask it to smile?

Great looking crab Bill.

How long do those last and what's the carapace printed on?

Please make up a few 8" across and send them to me so I can have a boil.

They last pretty well and are printed on normal photo paper. FishHawk
