Acklins Spots

Three of us are headed to Acklins Island for 23-30 March on a DIY excursion. Wonder if anyone has some suggestions as to locations to fish, or other useful tidbits of information. We'll be staying not far from Spring Point airport.
I have been to Acklins a few times, but some of those were guided trips with a boat to various flats. From my one unguided trip I don't feel I could again find some of the locations the group visited.
So any suggestions as to possible specific fishing spots would be welcome. If I had a GPS unit I would ask for coordinates - but I don't have one. I plan on copying some of the satellite photo info from Google to visualize the topography.
Thanks. GMflyfish

If I have a few minutes, I'll take an image from Google maps and give you at least a half dozen good places to go. I assume you have a car right? Where are you staying? Can I get your email so I can send the image to you?

Plenty of time - will get you some info. Overall repeat what we did last trip and that should be plenty. I'll get Delectable will be nothing like last time - probably full of fish.

Might even make it - need to find out what my upcoming projects / travel looks like in March.

acklins

Hi Gary,
Have a great time. I'm jealous. Delectable is always worth the trip. I know you guys didn't do great there last year but I crushed them there 4 days after you left so don't let one day or tide sour you on a good area. Another option is to see if any of the guides would charge less for a day of wading. I know on the cape it's a lot cheaper to hire someone that way.

Hey Juro
Getting to the point where there is no longer plenty of time. We'd appreciate much if you have any specific locations to try around mid Acklins. Turns out we will have a GPS unit with us, so if you happened to save any coordinates from your GPS that could be useful. I seriously doubt if I could find any of the places we drove to last year.
Many thanks.

If you pull over anywhere on the road from Delectable to Pestell, you will find fish. The first trip we dropped off luggage and got on the water by 2pm. I saw my first pod within 5 minutes and landed one on my second cast. That's why Acklins is the place to DIY.

You are leaving in 10 days. I have been occupied with trying to contact my mother and relatives in post-quake Tokyo.

Relax, or do your own research... it doesn't get easier than Acklins bro.

Thanks for the thoughts. Mom is safe... but has been through hell. I wish I was there, but can't be.

Anyway - guys, start with Google Earth. You can see all the roads and flats, and mark GPS points. They can be saved to a file and uploaded to your GPS. Easy as pie. I found the marks to be right on the mark +/- a few feet.

Great to hear that your Mom is OK, same hold true for other relatives? So much has been said about the NE areas that we forget that there had to be damage in other places too.

Who are the three going? Are you flying out 22nd or 23rd?

See my PM....
