Warm Water A Memory

Its 22 degrees with 29 mph winds. Memories of last year's trips flow by keeping hopes alive that next year's season will be as good as the last year's. Those of us who don't fish in cold weather are hunkering down preparing for next year's fun.

I want to take a moment to wish "Happy Holidays" to each and everyone.

Thanks. Happy Holidays to you and yours, too!

Here in upstate NY, some folks are already out ice fishing. I have to admit, it's more than a little difficult to cut a hole large enough to fly cast in, so everyone I know just makes a little compromise, uses a short jigging rod, and does some "vertical fly fishing." A scud pattern works wonders on panfish like yellow perch.....

Good fishing,

Sunday, February 13th, They're calling for high 50's and high 60's by the end of the week. Think it's time to pull out the poles and clean up the lines and get ready for the water. Been tying new flies in preparation. On the down side, am convinced that I'm allergic to cold weather. Fought bronchitis through out the entire month of January and the first week of February.

As I understand it, this is some of the best trout fishing weather. Oh well, the fish are safe and won't be disturbed by my clumsy efforts to entice them.

I'll be a warm weather fisherman for the rest of my life.
