Christmas Island Trevally flies?

My friends and I will be in Christmas Island for a week in mid-January. What are the best Trevally flies for Christmas Island? I have been told some poppers and 4/0 Deceivers (red/yellow and blue/white) work for Trevally. Is there any consensus about the must have Trevally flies for Christmas Island?

A No. 16 Parachute Adams should work. Make you use lots of floatant, as the fly needs to sit high in the water. Better beef up your tippet to at least 2# (fluro) as these fish are brutes.

I have not been to Christmas Island but I have caught quite a few GTs in the Seychelles.
Generally GTs will take anything that is big and flashy. So use the biggest flies that you can cast comfortably.
The fish in my avatar was caught on a 2/0 white/tan deceiver.

Quite often the fish will simply follow the fly and not take. On other occasions the get "lit up" and will follow the fly in the air and hit it as soon as it lands.

Have fun.

Pete

I had 28 GTs out in Christmas Island earlier this year, mainly using Bush Pigs in a #2/0 and #4/0
